Maximising your workout time: Top tips from WOW HYDRATE

When it comes to exercise and training, time spent and results don’t always match up. You can spend a lot of time in the gym or on the track, but if your time isn’t used effectively your fitness may suffer. Here’s a few tips for maximising your workout time…

1. Pick your goal and focus on the important work

If your goal is to improve your bench press, spending 30 minutes every session warming up on an exercise bike is a waste of your time and energy. Keeping your big goal at the front and centre of your mind is important because it focusses the rest of your workout.

2. Keep distractions out

If you have a limited amount of time to train, you should maintain your focus throughout. There are a number of ways you can avoid distraction – timed workouts, where you have to achieve a certain amount of sets of reps in a session (means you can’t afford to waste time between sets), wearing headphones (so you don’t have people bother you) or train in a quiet gym. All of these things help to stop you from becoming distracted.

3. Plan in advance

If you know you want to do a particular session, plan in advance so you have everything you need. That might be your headphones, your heart rate monitor, your specialist training kit (weightlifting shoes for example) and your drink. Interrupting your workout because you’ve forgotten something important can ruin your flow.

4. Pick a quiet time to train

If you can, pick the quietest times to train because you will maximise available work time and reduce the chance of having to delay your session. If you train in a gym at peak times, you may have to wait around for kit. If it means getting up earlier, training later or even changing gyms, it might be a wise move to make.

5. Stay hydrated

Research shows us that 1% dehydration can lead to a 10% drop in performance. By neglecting your hydration you’re guaranteeing that your training will suffer somewhat. Keeping WOW HYDRATE Electrolyte Water with you, the isotonic supplement complete with its balance of electrolytes will prevent dehydration and will kick-start your recovery immediately; while making sure you do not suffer from electrolyte imbalance.

Consuming WOW HYDRATE Protein after your workout means you get 20 grams of collagen protein, essential bcaas (amino acids), vitamins as well as hydration after your workout. Both sports drinks will not only improve your workout, you’ll be recovered and ready to train again quicker.

Follow these tips and you’ll maximise your training time, giving you greater gains in less time.

Why you might not be seeing any progress towards your health and fitness goals

We’ve all been there, working tirelessly in the gym or on the track, being mindful of your diet and feeling your whole life is surrounded by what you eat and when, only to look in the mirror and see no signs of progress, whether that’s weight loss, muscle gain or more definition. It can be deflating when your efforts appear not to be working, so here are a few questions to ask yourself when the scales won’t budge.

Are you keeping consistent?

Monday to Friday you could be hitting all of your daily targets, putting in good time at the gym and keeping your calories in check – well done you! However, at the weekends, the restriction you’ve had for the previous 5 days becomes apparent and you end up losing control and undoing all of your good work.

A common mindset is to completely give up after one bad meal and making it ‘one bad weekend’, but this is where you can make changes. You will not be able to be consistent with your diet and training if you don’t allow yourself treats now and then. Needed that Friday night take-away? That’s fine! Enjoy your evening then get back on track on Saturday morning.

Are you getting the right nutrients?

For both muscle gain and weight loss, your protein intake is a major player for reaching those goals. Protein is the building blocks for your muscle, so it vital for growth and recovery. For fat loss, protein is also satiating and can help you feel full for longer. To help you reach efficient protein levels, <a WOW HYDRATE’s Protein and Vitamin Water contains an incredible 20g of collagen protein, at only 97 calories making it the perfect post-workout drink.

Are you stressed?

Stress has a huge impact on our body mechanics. Cortisol, the stress hormone, when released in high amounts in the bloodstream for a long period of time, can result in all sorts of negative side effects. One of these is holding onto your body’s fat cells which might be why you aren’t seeing any progress despite sticking to your exercise and diet plan religiously. Try to create for yourself a less stressful environment: prioritise your sleep, surround yourself with positive people and eliminate any potential sources of stress in your life.

Are you ready to finally see some results? Grab a bottle of WOW HYDRATE and start making that progress you deserve.

How To Get The Most Out Of Your Morning Run

Whether you are a regular runner or just starting out on your jogging journey, you have already made a great decision if you are starting your day with a run.

If done correctly, exercise in the morning before you ever start work can energise you for the day and get you in the right mindset to take on whatever challenges you may face throughout it. And if you want to make the most of your early rise and runs, you have come to the right place. From electrolyte replenishment to setting the right distance, here are some tips from WOW HYDRATE on how to hit those morning miles.

Start to hydrate the night before your run

We all know about the importance of staying hydrated before exercise, but when it comes to running early in the morning, you want to make the most of the time you have before setting out the front door. Going to bed with a bottle of water is a good idea since that time before bed will be one of your last chances to hydrate ahead of your morning run.

Eat breakfast once you get back

Running too soon after eating can cause discomfort, so we recommend saving breakfast until after your morning exercise. If you have time, something light like a banana or cereal bar contains protein and sugars that will benefit you during and after the workout, but steer away from substantial food until afterwards.

Choose your milage carefully

As when running at any time of the day, it is really important to set your distance carefully. Especially in the morning, when runners might have time constraints before beginning work or the school run, it is key to get this distance right. As a rule, if you are in doubt about the amount of time you have to complete a run, set your distance shorter. The last thing you want is to be rushing through your run, risking causing yourself an injury in order to get back in time for whatever commitments you have.

Rehydrate with ELECTROLYTE

Once your morning workout is done, your recovery begins, and this is where WOW HYDRATE and WOW HYDRATE ELECTROLYTE come in. Used by some world-class athletes like Kevin De Bruyne and Tyson Fury, specialist flavour, vitamins and electrolytes are stored in the cap of these drinks and released into the water so the ingredients are always at their most powerful. #PushIt.
